Ulster County, New York, located 90 miles north of New York City, offers an attractive standard of living. Local government aimed to promote this area as an ideal destination for professionals to relocate or grow a business. The Ulster County Economic Development Alliance (UCEDA) selected RGI as the lead agency in a two-year program to develop and manage this promotional campaign. RGI targeted the metro New York City region, emphasizing Ulster County’s growing technology entrepreneur community and its role as a second-home market for city residents. To help shape the campaign themes, RGI conducted a strategic review. RGI identified Ulster County as a logical alternative for urbanites who desire a better quality of life and want to work from their country home a couple of days per week, before eventually relocating their business to Ulster County.
To drive home the campaign theme, RGI coined the slogan “Do Business Differently in Ulster County.” RGI created, coordinated and implemented the campaign. It was supported by a team of local businesses, professionals, and organizations such as the Ulster County Office of Economic Development, Hudson Valley Tech Meet-Up and several local Chambers of Commerce. The resulting campaign encompasses a complementary suite of features, including websites, videos, social media, print, email, event marketing, sponsorships, press coverage, and a special day-long ‘red carpet tour’ of Ulster County for New York-based tech entrepreneurs. The campaign was highly successful, elevating visibility of, and interest in, Ulster County. This led to significant business and personal investments by tech entrepreneurs.
